Hi dears!!!!
After working a lot, suffering a lot, trying over and over to figure out how does these famous sites work......etc, etc, etc, I definitely I prefer working with voxopop. Why????
Well, If it is necessary for us as teachers to know about technology and the different aplications that we can take advantage on in the classroom, there are some tools that far away of giving us an easy work, tend to be really complicated and at the end are not so useful like they pretend they are.
While working with voicethread, I found that it has a lot of limitants, not only the fact that you can´t upload a heavy file, but also that it fails so may times that at the end you conclude your participation with the worst performance ever. If it is true that is attractive when you are comenting in the clouds, and then you can admire your video or comment and bla bla bla, but the idea or the goal that you as teacher want to reach I can bet that will be reach not in the excellent way that you imagine at the beginning of your class.
On the other hand, while working with Voxopop I really enjoyed a lot, not just the fact of record my voice, but also when comenting for the rest of my classmates, I found this tool really atractive and useful and without any pressure of looking good in the video jejejeje.
Well as teacher I can share with you that definitile I would like to include the use of these sites on my work, and with this I will try to motivate my students to be as technological as possible. For example, you can start a debate in class letting the students to talk face to face and increasing in this way their communicative skill, and continue with the second part through the voxopop site, working at this point with the same skill but in different way, so they will be interacting and commenting for the rest of the classmates and have at the end a good relationship with technology.
Maybe for the bad experience I had with voicethread, I´m not so eager to work with it, but if I found that I can use it freely, uploading videos, presentations, cartoon, etc. with its help, for sure that I would like to use it too, imagine presenting a controversial topic and asking your students to comment and give suggestions about that, or comparing two different situations, contrasting two different ideas, etc....I know there`s a world of ideas outside that we can implement in our classroom, and I also know that we can find another site in which we can give the chance to do whatever we want related with technological skills!!!!
I really like all the things that are related with technological issues, and for sure I know that the more curious we are, the more tools we find...so my dear friends....lets be CURIOUS!!!!! ;)
